Week 7: My favourite part... I really enjoyed Peggy's cove.. even in the fog!  Miles... 594  Day 41: Lunenberg, NS 13 miles   This morning was another grey, drizzly morning and as such it was also a lazy morning.  It did, however, clear up around 11 which I took full advantage of by heading into the town of Lunenberg to wander and explore the historical town; there were plenty of unique shops and historical buildings to enjoy.  I headed back to the house mid-afternoon and took the opportunity to catch up and make a few calls. Week 6: My favourite part ... It was great to have a slower week and unwind a bit! (Vacay from a vacay.. Imagine!)  Miles ... 484  Day 33: St. John's, NL  45 miles   This morning started with partridgeberry tea biscuits topped with partridgeberry jam.. Yum!! Headed down the road for church, then were invited to stay for lunch and a lovely visit.  We headed out mid afternoon and returned to the university then we went out to Petty Harbor & Cape Spear, the most easterly point in North America! Very neat to see the coastline and a couple lighthouses there; it also provided a great view of signal hill and a lingering iceberg!  On the way home, we went out to Fort Amherst to see the opposite side of the narrows from Signal hill and a great view of the city!  We picked up a pizza for dinner and headed home where an old friend met us for dinner. Week 2: My favourite part.. Going lobster fishing! Total miles.. 880 Day 5: Richmond, QC to  Rivière-du-Loup, QC 274 miles It was an early start for some this morning, as a water pipe was leaking from upstairs. I, however, managed to sleep right through it. Breakfas t at 7:30 included an interesting but surprisingly edible combination of porridge, peanut butter and bacon. Our Sunday church meeting was half English and half French, and proved to test just how rusty my French has gotten.  After a delicious lunch of spaghetti and caesar salad, I headed out towards Quebec City. It was a gorgeous day to be on the road, a sentiment echoed by the sheer number of bikes on the road (I counted 227). I arrived on Ile D'Orleans shortly before 4, where I had the opportunity to pull over for a minute. Unfortunately, that led to the discovery that the front straps holding my box on had broken. {Friday October 10th} We got up around 7:30a this morning again to get ready. We didn't leave the hotel until around 9a, and headed to the Lyon's department store in downtown Sligo. They have a cafe on the second level of the store which was recommended to us.   Paul ordered the traditional Irish breakfast; bacon, sausage, beans, toast, and tomato. I got French toast served with maple syrup... both were very good. After breakfast, we headed towards the Marble Arch Caves. We had a very unceremonious entry to Northern Ireland, lacking even a sign.  Marble Arch Caves We arrived at the caves shortly before 11a and were lucky enough to have a private tour.  Because of the recent rain, the water levels were too high to take the short boat ride in, but we were able to walk into the cave.
